Who we are
The Bike Men of Flagler County are a group of volunteers who accept donations of new and gently used bicycles & parts for redistribution to people in need of transportation in & around Flagler County, Florida after they have been reviewed and repaired. We also are always looking for bike parts and tooling specific to bicycle repair.
We started operation in December 2014 answering a need by one of our local charities.
This has blossomed into a team of volunteers building, rebuilding and transporting bikes to the people of Flagler County and our neighbors. For 2023, we repaired and gave away over 2,200 bicycles.

What we are currently working on......
November 9, 2024 - WE ARE MOVING - As many of you know, we share our space with a food pantry that is run by the owners of the unit we reside in. Over the years we have grown quite a bit and have been looking for a new and larger space but finding one has proven to be very difficult. At the same time the food bank has grown also and they needed more space.
SO.... We are moving just across the parking lot to unit 100, which also owned by our landlord. It comes with a little more cost but essentially we will end up with 3 times the amount of room. We will have the whole unit to ourselves including an office and 2nd floor.
Work to fit it out has started and not only that but we will have air conditioning in the work stand bays. All our volunteers are excited and can't wait for opening day. Opening Day to be announced.

March 2021 - After many tries, we have finally made contact with the Volusia and Flagler Foster/Adoptive Support group via Facebook and delivered our first bike under this program to a foster child along with a bike safety helmet. We pledge to keep all these requests in confidence and to never reveal any personal information about the parents or child nor shall we publish any pictures of these events to respect their privacy. Any adoptive parent can make a request via the administrators of the Facebook page or their assigned GAL. We hope that we can answer all future requests so that every foster or adoptive child has a bicycle.
Feb 4, 2021 - We delivered another load of 10 - 26" men's bicycles to FUMCH as arranged with Britney Lasimone of the development dept. at the Florida United Methodist Children's Home. Also delivered at the same time was 8 large boxes of clothing donated by one of our supporters Alexander DEL ROSSA.
February 2021 - We would like to introduce the Palm Coast Bicycle Trail Shop as a new supporter of The Bike Men of Flagler County. They are located next to the Shell station at Clubhouse Drive and Palm Coast Pkwy. Thank you Mark & Rita for your commitment to our community. More contact information can be found on our Friends-Supporters page.
January 2021 - Well, we are finally back in our regular shop and all the backlog of picking up bikes donated after Christmas is finally caught up. The shop and our auxiliary storage unit are both full and busting at their seams. We contacted the Florida United Methodist Children's Home to see if they could use another round of bicycles and they said most definitely. We are scheduled to deliver another 10 bicycles out to them on February 4. Photo of the Feb 4 delivery will be added to our Photo page. Also one of the volunteers with Emmanuel's Closet has been making regular weekly trips, bringing 5-6 bikes each trip to Solutions By The Sea in Daytona Beach, Thank you Kip for all you do. At least now we can walk in the shop.
The December 2020 press release from the FCSO on the donation of 13 bicycles from their unclaimed property office had fanned the flames for donations of bicycles for us from the community. Folks, we are working on scheduling these pickups as quick as we can and to find room to store all these bikes until they can be reviewed and repaired prior to distribution. This and the our relocation back to our regular shop after the Christmas Come True operation has taxed our volunteers, please be patient and we will get back to everyone that contacted us. A copy of the press release can be be seen at this link at the Palm Coast Observer. Thank you Sheriff Staly and the FCSO for your help.
The 2020 Christmas Come True operations went smoothly at our temporary location at City Marketplace in Palm Coast and 200 bicycle were readied for the children. It was a harder challenge this year as there was a general shortage of new bicycles in the markets and we were forced to seek gently used bicycle donations to repair and give out. Even with all that we fell short in fulfilling all requests for bicycles but were able to fulfill wishes for 200 bicycles. Thanks to all great folks in Flagler County (and beyond) that made this possible and our team in picking up all the donated bicycles. Pictures from the 2020 Christmas Come True were added to the slideshow on our Photos page.
Starting Monday November 23, 2020 we will be stopping our regular bike shop operation in the Atlantis Business Plaza as all our mechanics will be busy getting bicycles ready for Christmas Come True at another location. We will continue our weekly appearance at the Sheltering Tree Offices on Tuesday mornings. Regular bike shop operations will return after the New Year.
On Thursday Sept 24, 2020 we picked up16 bikes from the Police Dept of UCF in Orlando FL as a donation to our group. A big thank you to Peter Stephens of the UCF PD in arranging this and our thanks to Lyndy Moore @lyndybyke (The Helmet Lady) for getting us some of these abandoned bikes. These bicycles will be repaired by our staff and ready in the next week or two to help those in Flagler County.
July 26 & 27, 2020 - A big thank you to the owners (Jake, James, Kelly and Diane) of PC Bike. They decided to close their doors after many years serving Palm Coast. Update 12/20/2019 - We finished up the bike building for Christmas Come True, topping out at 171 bikes for this year. Distribution yesterday went as smooth as it could be serving just approximately 150 families. This was not only bikes but other gifts including clothing, school supplies, toiletries, games, toys, etc. and a full Christmas dinner provided for each family.

HELP!!!! - We are out of space for storage of completed bicycles and the workshop.
Over the last 2 years we have grown the number of organizations we assist. With that, we have outgrown our donated space and could really use a larger home. We are looking for approx. 2,000 to 2,500 sq. ft. If any private entity or government agency can assist us with space (including electricity and water service) it would be extremely appreciated. We will provide labor and materials for build out. We do not need anything fancy, just dry and secure. THANK YOU
Operations
We have individuals who work on the mechanics of used donated bicycles and an additional team of builders for new bikes as well as those who volunteer their time and vehicles in picking up and delivering bikes from across the county and beyond.
We have a shop and storage unit in a donated space on US 1 in Bunnell, Fl. serving these needs and this shop acts as the base of our operations.
We do not only build bikes
In addition to building and rebuilding bicycles, we provide a mobile shop operation to several charitable groups to perform on-the-spot repairs and preventive maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis.
This serves their client base who cannot otherwise afford these repairs.
Bicycle mobile repair shop operations serve The Sheltering Tree, Family Life Center & Samaritan Ministries in Flagler County, we also service St Augustine Youth Services in St. Johns County, Florida.
